If you are among those who are looking for some hidden treks, you have perhaps come to the right place. Dashir lake in Manali is a hidden gem about which only few nature lovers know. This is a serene and pristine trek which shall offer some of the most memorable views of this region.

Dashir lake is located on top of a mountain and you will have other snow-capped peaks for company. It is a fairly moderate trek and it begins from near Mahri which is halfway to Rohtang Pass.

When to Hike Dashir Lake

Early May to late October is the best time to accomplish this trek as the weather is usually moderate at this time. You will also find a lot of blossoming flowers during this period. Winters are a strict no as it snows excessively in this region and it remains cut off from rest of the world during these months.

Difficulty Level

Dashir Lake is an offbeat trail in Manali which is of medium level difficulty. Dashir lake is in the pir Panjal range and once you accomplish this trek, your confidence is set to rise to next level. The altitude of Dashir lake Manali is 4568 meters and when you get to this trek, you will have to cross pine and oak forests.

Why is Dashir Lake getting Popular?

Dashir lake is getting popular for being a trekking hub. On the way, you will find a number of rocks which are used as sheds by Shepards who come here in summer. These can be an emergency home for you in case you wish to spend some days meditating here in solitude.

In addition, you can also camp on the lake side in evening and spend some quality time with your family and friends.

Trek Route to Dashir Lake

There are two routes for hiking to Dashir Lake and the first one is from Marhi and is a fairly moderate trek route which can be easily accomplished. You will be passing through many snow-capped mountains and the view is simply enchanting.

The second route for trek to Dashir lake starts from Beas temple in Rohtang pass. However, this route is not for faint hearted as you will have to cross many avalanche paths and the ascent is also steep.

If you trek from Madhi mor to this lake, the trek distance is 1 to 2 Km and if you go at a firm pace, this trek shall be accomplished in 1.5 to 2 hours. If you decide to hike on this trek in summers, you can accomplish it in a day from Manali. The distance of Mahdi from Manali is around 31 Km and you can park your vehicle at Madhi and hike the last few Kilometers to the trek. Indeed, a memorable trek!

The second route also takes the same time but the ascent is quite steep and you should head from this route to Dashir Lake only if you are a trained trekker.

This is a virtually surprise treat for the eyes and is not much explored too. From the lake, you will see some enchanting views of the valley below. You can also carry some food along and the banks of the Lake in manali would perhaps be the best place to have lunch in solitude which you shall remember for a long while in your life.

This trek is also one of the least explored treks in Himachal Pradesh, and whenever you come next time to Manali, do take a day off to hike to this lake. You will carry the memories of Dashir Lake for a lifetime!
