Jispa is heaven or is it! Indeed, this small village of Jispa Himachal Pradesh has always attracted me. Located around 25 Km from the district headquarter of Keylong, this is a small village which slowly over the past 20 years has transformed a lot.
Life in Solitude
If you are among those who like to live in solitude for a few days Jispa village Himachal Pradesh can be a perfect fit. However, modernity has had its hit on this serene village too and today you will find a range of homestays too here besides hotel ibex Jispa which has been in operation since past 30 years.
For a small village of size of Jispa, it has a helipad, post office and a monastery.
Exclusive Location
For a moment while passing through Jispa Himachal Pradesh, you will feel as if you are passing through Europe. This village is located on both edges of Manali Leh Highway and Bhaga River flows alongside this village which gives it a unique ambiance.
While it had been tough reaching Jispa Himachal Pradesh till early 2000’s, it has been a breeze now, especially with opening of Atal Tunnel Rohtang.

How to Reach Jispa
You can drive to Jispa village Himachal Pradesh in your own vehicle at ease. The road is well maintained by Border Road Organization, and it is quite easy to reach here via Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Most people use this place as a stopover for Ladakh. However, if you are among those who love wilderness, Jispa is the place.
Alternatively, you can catch the early morning bus from Manali which goes to Keylong. From Keylong onwards, you can hire a local taxi or continue journey till Jispa in Delhi Leh bus which operates during summer months till late November.

Let me take you through a memory trail through my eyes as I explored this region exclusively many times over past few years.
Village Walk
The best thing to do in Jispa Himachal Pradesh is to do a village walk. The people are friendly and in case you are interested in exploring the Lahauli culture, the people will lovingly give you an insight on the same.
Visit to the local Monastery
Every village in Lahaul valley has its own monastery and Jispa Himachal Pradesh too has its own. You can make a visit to the monastery located on the top edge of the village and interact with monks. They will offer you tea and biscuits and you should be respectful enough to enjoy this small treat. The idea is to connect with nature, people and know their culture. This is the best way of knowing any place and you should do the same at Jispa Himachal Pradesh.

Sitting by the River
Solitude lovers are indeed in heaven in Jispa Himachal Pradesh. You can sit by the Bhaga River for hours and take my word, you would feel like spending hours more here. The water is cold, the current is fast and you will feel as if your entire life has passed by before your eyes if you spend quality time by the riverbanks.
Places to stay in Jispa
There are a range of options for a comfortable stay in Jispa.
Hotel ibex
This is the oldest one among places to stay in Jispa. A big grand hotel, it is easily visible from far away and is in fact the landmark for Jispa. You will get all the modern amenities here even when you are in a small village.
Padma Lodge
This is a popular lodge among bag packers as it is located among pea fields and offers you close encounter with nature. This is one place where you will find electric charger for your EV and is testimony of the fact that technology had penetrated deep into our lives.
There are few other options too and if you have instinct for being in the wilderness, you can even pitch your tent alongside river Bhaga.
Jispa Himachal Pradesh can be used as a base for visiting neighboring regions like Baralacha, Deepak Tal and Suraj Tal.
Jispa is a wonderland in itself. This is a recommended place to stay if you visit this region for few days. You will not only return energized but will get an insight into another aspect of life which you rarely get to see in big cities.
